3. Biodata:
Deputy Minister of Defense General Gul Zarak Zadran is a Pashtun from Paktia who was a professional soldier trained in the US. During the jihad, however, he became a commander of ‘Abd al-Rabb al-Rasul Sayyaf’s Ittihad party, an Islamist organization that became one of the few Pashtun-led components of the UF. He is a strong advocate of excluding all but jihadi forces from the army. Gul Zarak Zadran, has a long association with Professor Sayyaf Group. Former Minister of Defense, Fahim, in 2003 named Pashtun Gul Zarak Khan Zadran as his fourth deputy, the top job handed out in the reshuffle. Two of his existing deputies wereTajiks, while the third was an Uzbek.

A government official, who didn't want his name to be mentioned told TOLOnews that nephew of Gul Zarak, the MoD Deputy Minister in May 20111 help and guided the suicide attacker to enter inside the Ministry. Apparently, this issue has not been revealed officially and the officer is believed to be a fugitive right now.
