Abdul Ghafoor Zori, son of the late Faqeer Ahmad Zori, was born in 1950 in Zaranj, capital of southwestern Nimroz province. Zori graduated from Farokhi Sistani high school in Nimroz province in 1971. Zori served in Herat electricity administration from 1971 to 1972 and from 1976 to 1978 worked in Agriculture Development Bank in Nimroz. In 1979 he immigrated to Iran for one year. Zori fought against the Soviet invasion and regimes backed by the Soviet Union from 1979 to 1992, and lost his six brothers in those battles and resistance. From 1992 to 1994 he served as chief of finance of Nimroz province, and from 1994 to 1995 he served as the head of agriculture cooperatives in the province. Zori says he maintained political résistance against the Taliban from 1995 to 2001 in Nimroz province. In the year 2001 to 2003 he served as chief of finance of Nirmoz for the second time and from 2003 to 2006 he was busy in social and personal affairs. Zori worked as head of the chambers of commerce of Nimroz province from 2006 to 2007.
