Background: In 2007 a group of academicians from Balkh Province came upon a idea to establish an institute of academic excellence, which could cater to the needs of the people of this area. The indian earning solutions company NIIT on 20100909 said it has signed an agreement with Aria Institute of Higher Education of Afghanistan to create a pool of IT professionals in that country. Under the agreement, NIIT will provide educational programmes in software engineering and networking. The duration of the programmes would be from six months to two years. The company also said the students will be benefited by getting access to the latest curriculum and online learning portals. Currently, NIIT under its IT education vertical trains five million students in 40 countries. Background: Aria Institute of higher Education is an indian "investment" in Northern Afghanistan to have a food in the door in case the development in Southern Afghanistan should stall. Developmental Plans: There are several developmental plans in the pipe line for the future that some of the important one’s are as follows: The plan for the construction of a permanent building, which caters to the rising demands of students, classrooms, administrative blocks, etc, is on the anvil. The Medical Faculty is in urgent need for a full-fledged hospital, which will cater to the needs of the young doctors graduating from Medical Faculty of this institute. With this in mind, the management has drawn up a line of action to construct a hospital for practicing interns, and also to people of Balkh Province. The plan for establishing new faculties. The plan for establishing the branches of the institute in other provinces. The plan of partnership with Business Faculty of Tajikistan is on the anvil. The possibility of a working long-term relationship with IGNOU is on the anvil. The plan for organizing regional conference is also a part of our developmental plans which we work upon.
