His Royal Highness Prince Mir Wais Khan [Mirwais Zaher], son of late Afghan King Muhammad Zaher Shah and his only wife Queen Homaira, was born at the Arg-i-Shahi, Kabul, 25th January 1957. Mirwais Zahir is the youngest of six sons and two daughters of late King Zahir Shah. He was educated in Istiqlal School, Kabul, and Harrow School, Midsussex, UK. He studied art at the Academia delle Belle Arti, Rome. Later he also worked and trained with italian sculptor Sinisca and french artist Jean-Pierre Velly and was a friend of italian artist Luigi Ontani. Alain Daniélou's Foundation "Il Labirinto" in Zagarolo, Lazio, Italy and his Director Jaques Cloarec had a great influence in Prince Mirwais's art training. From mid 80's to mid 90's he was a public relation adviser for Italy and the Gulf region for Asia-Can (Asia Canada) and his founder Ph.D. Dale E. Shuttleworth. Prince Mirwais also was a public relation event adviser (equestrian, concerts and precious high value products launching) together with long term family friend and collaborator Countess Marina Meneghetti de Camillo. Since 2008 he is not linked to any official job position in Afghanistan. Prince Mirwais married in 2009, with both civil and religious rituals, a swiss citizen that embraced muslim religion and took Afghan nationality. He lives in Afghanistan.


Prince Mirwais Zahir, the son of Afghanistan’s former king, Mohammad Zahir Shah, passed away at the age of 66 in Kabul on Friday September 29, 2023.
