Yusufzai_FahimFahim Yusufzai was born in Kabul, Afghanistan, however he has spent most of his life in Hamburg, Germany. He has studied Economics and is a real-estate agent by profession. In 1993 he started the project called “Sports Against Violence” which was joined by celebrity-athletes such as the boxing world champion Dariusz Michalczewski, the Klitschko brothers, and the swimming world champion Sandra Völker. Since the art of sports requires much discipline and mental strength along with physical strength, the goal of this project is the containment of violence through sports. For his great achievements through this project, Mr. Yusufzai was awarded the Citizen Award in 1998 by Germany's former Chancellor Helmut Kohl and the Mayor of Hamburg, Ole von Beust. Recently, with the defeat of the Taliban, Mr. Yusufzai has started to visit his native country once again on a regular basis.

In Afghanistan he is in direct contact with the Afghan government under the leadership of President Hamid Karzai. Consequently, in July 2002 he was appointed as the Olympic Representative of Afghanistan. This title has enabled him to work with sports both to re-introduce the art to Afghanistan and to its people and also to help Afghanistan gain recognition by the international community. One of the most recent projects of Mr. Yusufzai is the project called “New Generation of Afghanistan.” This project focuses on the exiled Afghan people living in Germany who intend to support their country in both its fresh start and in its attempt to rebuild itself The main goals of this project are the re-establishment of the education system and sufficient medical services for the Afghans in Afghanistan.
