Muhammad Raza Khushak Watan Dost Mohammad Reza Khoshak Watandost, son of Didar Ali, was born in 1977 in Daikundi province. Watan Dost graduated from Shahed Mudaris High School in Iran in 1998. Currently (2012) he is studying Political Science at Ibn-e-Sina Private University in Kabul.

Watan Dost was a prominent businessman in Herat. After completing his education, Watan Dost worked in the import/export business until 2006, when he began working with investments in Afghan mines, as the manager of Herat province’s Sabzak Mine. He is close to Mohaqiq.

The Western Garmak coal mine was awarded to the Khoshak Brothers Company, which belongs to Mohammad Reza Khoshak, a sitting member of the Wolusi Jirga from Hirat Province. Mohmmad Reza Khoshak’s business card designation shows him as the president of Khoshak Brothers Company, and the contract for the coal mine carries Reza Khoshak’s email, as well as his mobile number as contact. This represents a gross and obvious violation of Article 14 of the Mineral Law of Afghanistan (2010). Moreover, the rules of tendering and invitation of tenders have been grossly twisted to favor KBC during early stage as well.

Western Garmak is located in the jurisdiction of Dar-e-Suf district of Samangan province. Dar-e-Suf happens to be one of the richest coal sites in the country, and there are reportedly 395 spots from where illegal extraction is being conducted by politically connected powerful people or local warlords.

Watandost received 16,140 votes in Wolesi Jirga election 2018 and got a seat in WJ 2018.
