Haji Abdul Majjid Wardak is the son of Abdul Latif Wardak and was born 1955 in Zarifkhel village,  Jaghatu District of Maidan-Wardak Province. Wardak completed his primary education at Gorbat School in Wardak province and his secondary education at the Inqelab School in Kabul in 1963. He graduated from the Kabul Police Academy in 1965, and then from Kabul University in 1991 with a bachelor’s degree in history and philosophy.

After completing his education at the Police Academy, Wardak worked in the police force until he retired in 2007, spending 33 years  in the criminal technical department of the Ministry of Interior Affairs. He holds the rank of colonel in the police force.

Wardak is married and has seven children.

He speaks Pashto and Dari.
