3. Biodata: Alhaj Mohammad Salim Taraki son of Alhaj Abdul Hai Taraki was born in 1963 in 5th Nahia of Herat city. He has been gr aduated from Jami High school in Herat on 1980. And he obtained his BA degree from Kabul University on geology on 1985. He has served in Education faculty of Herat as professor during 10 years. Then he provided services to Herat citizen as Deputy Mayor and Mayor in Herat city till now. Also, he is the active member of Herat consultative board of international chamber of commerce and he is member of Afghanistan industrial union as well. Along his official engagement he has delivered the business related initiatives. He is director of Matin Khalil Trading Company and Herat Electric Factory and deputy of Taraki Livestock farm in Herat.
Herat mayor Mohammad Salim Taraki submitted a resignation letter to deputy governor however it was not accepted yet” Mohammad Behrozyon, the spokesman for the governor of western Herat province told medial outlets. According to a spokesman, it has not been cleared yet why the governor had resigned.
Mohammad Salim Taraki rejected 20120425 corruption accusation of Afghanistan's anti-corruption chief against himself and the Afghan Minister of Energy and Water, calling his comments "nonsense". Speaking in a local ceremony, Taraki said he was ready to prove he is not a land-grabber and said the comments of High Office of Oversight and Anti-corruption chief Azizullah Lodin aimed to defame well-known figures in the country. "I have a legal deed and a legitimate claim on [the land], but unfortunately I am faced with irresponsible statements of Mr Lodin." He said that the late Abdul Majid Khan Zabuli, who was a public figure in both business and government, had gifted a house in Herat to Minister of Energy and Water Mohammad Ismail Khan's wife. However some government officials and lawmakers claim that all Zabuli's properties belong to the government, according to his final will. Herat-based expert Mohammad Rafiq Shahid said: "These properties were given to educational organisations, but it was grabbed and documents were [falsely] made in Ismail Khan's name."
Herat provincial governor Daud Shah Saba accused the Herat City Mayor Muhammad Salim Taraki of graft after scores of local residents and social activists protested over land-grabbing and the escalation of corruption. Saba said the Municipality is not concerned about the city's issues. The green areas are being destroyed. Taraki is not concerned about roads as well. All the repaired roads do not meet the standards and norms of construction at all. These roads will be damaged again. Shah Saba went on to allege that up to 100 million Afs (US$1.9m) is being embezzled from the municipality revenues. Taraki replied by accusing the provincial governor of weak management in rehabilitation projects and urging the responsible organs to closely monitor his activities.(20120930) |
