August 23, 2010: Patpal Singh is a candidate of Sikh community standing in September 18, 2010 parliamentary elections from Kabul province. Two Sikh candidates are in the run for the Wolesi Jirga seats in the elections.
3. Biodata: Purtapal Singh was born 1970 in the Zurmat district of Paktia province, where he got married 24 years ago. A father of two daughters and a son, he said their ancestors had migrated to Afghanistan several centuries ago. Singh is a perfume seller in Khairkhana, Kabul City. In 1988 Singh was paralysed as a result of a rocket attack in the Sherpur Square, Kabul City. Singh said about 1,000 Hindus and Sikhs in Kabul were eligible to vote in the upcoming 2010 lower house polls, but they did not have voting cards.
Singh can fluently speak Pashto, Dari, Hindi, Urdu, Hindko and Panjabi
