3. Biodata:
Dr. Bakhtar Amin Zai, Bakhtar Aminzai, son of Muhammad Amin, was born in 1968 in the village of Dawolatzai of Paktia province. He completed his primary education in his village and secondary education at Itihad High School in Peshawar. He received his diploma in 1993. He pursued his higher education at Ahmad Shah Abdali University in Peshawar, where he completed his B.B.A. He received a business administration degree from Alkhari University in 2003. He migrated for some years to Pakistan.

Aminzai was a Director at the Afghan Hewad University in Peshawar and established the Humanitarian Development Assistance Organization. He launched the afghan Peace Jirga together with Mohammad Omar Sherzad and others (20180508) and was the interim chairman of the "peace jirga" (20091104). He previously served as an advisor to the afghan Minister for Public Health and he has extensive background in the field of education.

Aminzai has traveled to Dubai, the United States, Germany, India and Pakistan on business and private visits. He was indirectly elected to the Meshrano Jirga through the 2005 Provincial Council elections in Paktia. Hamnazar One of the most important parties of the Meshrano Jirga, Hamnazar (Alliance) mainly consists of pro-Karzai MPs, who are Western sympathizers. The group numbers some thirty parliamentarians and is led by Amin Zai who is closely allied with Karzai who strongly supported him for this position.

Aminzai was a candidat in Wolesi Jirga Election 2010, but could not grab a seat.
 

Dr. Ghairat Baheer, Dr. Bakhtar Aminzai and Amanullah Azimi were introduced to the upper house by President Ashraf Ghani. Azimi, Baheer and Aminzai replaced Abdul Baqi Baryal, Nisar Haris and Farida Kochi respectively.(20180916)
 

Bakhtar Aminzai, claimed that he was fired from his post after President Ashraf Ghani asked him not to run against the Senate Speaker Fazl Hadi Muslimyar in an internal election at the Afghan Senate 2018 to elect the speaker of the house. Aminzai, who was appointed as the member of the Senate by Ghani six months ago, said the president fired him after he resisted his order. “When I decided to nominate myself in the next round of elections for the post of Senate speaker, the minister of parliamentary affairs Farooq Wardak warned me to reverse my decision as per the guidance of the president (Ashraf Ghani),” Aminzai said at a press conference in Kabul on Monday Apr 1, 2019. Aminzai says he was also asked by Muslimyar not to run for the seat. “When a senator is selected for a five-year term, the president does not have the authority to determine his tenure,” said legal expert Wahid Farzaee. Last week, Ghani in a decree appointed Attaullah Ludin to replace Aminzai.(20190401)

In April 2019 Aminzai claimed that he was fired as Senator after President Ghani asked him not to run against the Senate Speaker Fazel Hadi Muslimyar in an internal election. Speaking at a campaign rally in Nangarhar province, President Ghani said that he removed Bakhtar Aminzai from the senate after he wanted to compete with Muslimyar.(20190922)
