mujdah_wahidAhmad Wahid Muzdha Waheed Mujhda Mozhdah Mujda is an Afghan political analyst and former Taliban official for the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Before joining the Taliban, he was a member of Hizb-e Islami, the organization led by rebel leader Gulbaddin Hekmatyar, who established his reputation as an anti-Soviet mujahideen commander in the 1980s. Mujda studied economics at Kabul University. Wahid Mozdha is a Panjshiri Tajik, not a Pashtun, but he is closely related with Hizb-e-Islami faction of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar. Mozhda is one of few Tajik remainings who is still Hizb-e-Islami member. He wrote book on Afghan-Iran relations in the 1990s and recently wrote a book, Afghanistan and the Five Year Reign of the Taliban.

As an eminent political observer, Wahid Mujda, is skeptical about the success of the government of President Karzai over the next five years particularly in his war on corruption. He warned, however, that Obama's planned increase in US troops by about 10000 would make the situation worse. Muzhda claims to know the militant leader Baradar personally. According to Wahid Muzhda, a former Taliban official in Kabul who stays in touch with former colleagues, the Taliban Quetta council meets every three or four months to plot strategy. As recently as three years ago, he said, the council had 19 members. Since then, six have been killed or captured. Others have since filled the empty seats, he said.

Political commentator Waheed Mujda, who worked with Tayyeb Agha in the Taliban government, says Agha's importance is being exaggerated. Mujda douts that he has a mandate from Mullah Omar to negotiate with the west on behalf of the Taliban. (20110724)

One of the largest anti-American events witnessed over the past years has taken place in Kabul on Nov 10, 2013 with 3000 politicians, mullahs and students coming together from across Afganistan to voice their adamant opposition to Afghanistan signing a Bilateral Security Agreement (BSA) with the United States. It comes just days before the government is due to hold its own jirga (Nov 16 – 21) to decide on the BSA which open the way for foreign troops staying on Afghan soil after 2014.The organisers all belonged to the so-called Front for National Unity and Opposition to US Military Bases (Jabha-ye Wahdat-e Melli wa Mukhalefat ba Paigah-ha-ye Nezami-ye Amrika). The Front’s spokesman is Wahid Muzhda, a former Hezb member who, for a while, worked with the Taleban regime and has now established himself as a (often-quoted) political analyst and commentator.(20131114)
