3. Biodata:
moradian_daudDavood Moradian Muradian Davood Moradiyan was born 1964 in Herat, where he lived until the age of 7. He has completed his undergraduate studies at the University of London, in the fields of International Relations and International Law. He has lived 17 years in the U.K. and holds dual Afghan and British nationality. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from University of St. Andrews (Scotland), where he also taught International Relations. His thesis focused on a comparative study of the conception of punishment in the traditions of ancient Greece, Islam and international criminal justice.

Davood Moradian was a senior policy advisor to former Foreign Minister Rangeen Dadfar Spanta and the head of the Afghan Foreign Ministry’s Strategic Studies Center.  Moradian, has allegedly been removed from his position at the request of Afghan President Hamid Karzai, an unnamed source said Jan. 3, 2011.  Afghan Islamic Press reported Jan. 3. that Moradian, a close friend of Afghan National Security Adviser Rangin Dadfar Spanta, was fired for criticizing the peace process with opponents during a foreign visit. In addition, Spanta was reportedly absent from a Jan. 3, 2011 Council of Ministers meeting, further fueling longstanding rumors that he has resigned or will resign from his post. However, no officials have commented on or confirmed any of these rumors.

Dr. Davood Moradian is the founder and the first director-general of the Afghan Institute for Strategic Studies (AISS).

 

Moradian is also known for his pro-"Khorasan" writings.

He speaks Dari, English and little Pashtu.
