Abdol Hamid Mobarez Abdul Mobariz Mubarez Mubariz was born 1932. He is an liberal Afghan journalist who's been living in Paris, France since 1989 and is known as an intellectual, nationalist, writer - now working as a freelance journalist and Political analyst in Kabul . The intellectual, nationalist, writer and former journalist returned to Afghanistan from self imposed exile in 2002. Called upon by the new minister of information and culture, Rahin Makhdum, to return, this former chief of the official Bakhtar news agency, three-times governor soon ran into problems.
Because of his differences with [Information and Culture Minister] Makhdum Rahin 2005, Abdul Hamid Mobarez resigned as a Deputy Minister of Communication and Information, citing the ministry’s "censorship of the media.
One of the ministry employees says: The differences between the minister and the deputy increased and became problematic when the election campaigns of the presidential candidates started. Mr Mobarez wanted the lectures of the candidates to be published in the media, particularly the state-run media, without any censorship. But Sayed Makhdum Rahin, the minister of information and culture, completely disagreed. He exerted his influence and as a democratic gesture only 20 minutes of the candidates' lectures were allowed to be broadcast. The resignation of Deputy Minister of Information Mobarez at the end of December 2004 reflected criticism of the media policies of Karzai's new government.
Mobariz is a father-of-three, his daughter back in Paris said: "I am very proud of my father," Dr Nilab Mobarez, a surgeon and former professor at Kabul University, told I "He has done a lot for his country and he still wants to do more. I always knew he would one day return," she said.
Mobarez is speaking French, English and Dari.
