mansoor_abdul_hafezMansoor son of Mohammad Hussain, was born in 1963 in the Panjsher Valley. Mansur completed his primary education in Panjshir province and his secondary education at the Mujahid High School in Pakistan. He earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism from Kabul University in 1996.
 

Mansoor, the journalist and ethnic Tajik from the Panshir valley, claims to represent the legacy of assassinated mujahedin commander Ahmad Shah Masood. A graduate of Kabul university's journalism faculty, Mansoor runs the weekly paper Payam-e-Mujahid (Mujahedin Message). He served as acting minister of information and culture and the head of State TV and Radio immediately after the fall of the Taliban. Mansoor is a member of Jamiat-i Islami Afghanistan.

After the fall of the Taliban regime in late 2001, Mansoor served as the first director of state radio and television. As director, he was criticized for some of his conservative decisions which included a ban on showing female singers on TV. In the October 2004 presidential elections, Mansoor ran as an independent. He received only 0.2% of the votes. His Vice presidents were Sayid Mohammeed Iqbal Manib and Mohammed Ayub Qasimi. Mansoor has been highly critical of President Karzai, and has accused him of trying to form a dictatorship.
